Ariel had her second day of creative dance this week at California Arts Academy http://calartsacademy.com/

Last week she was too shy to participate, so she sat on my lap throughout the entire session. This week, believe it or not, she overcame her fear and she had sooooo much fun! She twirled, pranced, galloped, jumped and danced her little heart away. It was so great to see the smile on her face. =)

Our children grow up much to fast…moments like these are fleetingly sweet. Let them be little and give them every opportunity to express themselves creatively. As adults we take everything much too serious. It is sweet to see a child fearlessly twirl her little heart away…it’s bittersweet for us adults to know that moments like these don’t last forever…

Tiny Dancer…

My daghter Ariel has loved to dance ever since she could hold her head up! Starting with shoulder shrugs at 4-month and advancing to twirls as she learned to walk. Now at the age of 2 and 1/2, I thought it was about time to get her involved in dance.

I contacted California Arts Academy in Fresno, CA and I was so excited to find out that they offer classes for children as young as 2-years-old!!! I eagerly signed Ariel up for the beginners Creative-Dance class. http://calartsacademy.com/

I spent an entire day picking out her required attire for the class; the cutest little ballet slippers that she will not take off, the powder-blue leotard that fit her so snuggly and the most perfect pink tights (that took several stops to find). I was so excited!

We finally get to class and I am ready with my camera to take 1001 pictures of my beautiful tiny dancer on her first day of dance. Oh, was I surprised when she spent the entire hour of class sitting on my lap. It turns out (according to the super awesome dance instructor) that it is totally normal for Ariel to be shy during the first few classes of dance. Hmmm….I didn’t capture the 1001 photos that I planned to but hopefully I will have some to share by next week =)
